The basic advantage to send your teen to a teenage boot camp is that when a teenage is subjected to a lot of mental and physical work, he or she turns out to be a better person. The disciplinary orders used to be very strict in these teen boot camps. Teenagers that do not observe the rules were subjected to severe military punishments. Physical exercises were also part of their training. Another essential part of training of teenagers were mind control sessions. In the early days, the supervisors in teen boot camps were supposed to use corporal methods while punishing teenagers, but now they are banned to use.

These kind of camps and sessions will create uniformity in all their members. The members that want to attend the camp have to have no contact with their families. All the members of the camp have to wear uniform. In order to create more uniformity, in some boot camps, the teens' heads have been shoved off. In these boot camps, usually, the children are not called off by their particular names in order to keep it generalized. Also, it will not make somebody think that he or she has given more importance than others.

After the time period of children's stay completes, a period of aftercare starts. This period also referred to as the mentoring period. In this period, the problems that have been faced by the children over their stay at the teenage boot camp are discussed and the solutions have to be found out.  There are boot camps that offer some job training skills during this time.

The effectiveness of joining these boot camps is a very controversial issue. There are experts that particularly say that boot camps do not improve your child. They say that the effects of a boot camp are usually temporary and children forgot everything when they get over with the boot camp. In fact, the strictness there may make children more defiant in their life. They also say that joining a boot camp can sometimes offend a child. And your children may not change their behavior or may make it severe when they come out of the boot camp.
